It is the RWC 2023 hosts France that many websites, which relate Rugby odds and free bets, have made the beloveds for the Web Ellis trophy this year. In Antoine Dupont, France's rugby national union team have maybe the most premium player in the world in their ranks. They will be hoping that he can lead them to brilliance on home turf later this year. If he can do exactly that, it will be France’s first-ever Rugby World Cup achievement.

But, after losing to Ireland in the new Six Nations clash in Dublin, could a component of doubt be creeping into the minds of the French? In respect of the RWC's impending return, we decided to take a look through the past books at the top try scorers from the last four world cups and see how they formed their team’s achievement.

2019 RWC: Josh Adams

Welsh Winger Josh Adams counted seven tries at the 2019 Rugby World Cup, making him the contest’s top try scorer. He counted in the group stages against Australia, Fiji, Uruguay, and Georgia helping lead Wales to the best spot in Group D ahead of Southern Hemisphere behemoths Australia.

The Welsh would then defeat Ireland by just one point in the quarter-finals, sealing a semi-final dock, where they in the end lost to South Africa. Adams’ inspiring performances led him to be named player of the contest by fans on social media.

2015 Rugby World Cup: Julian Savea

Savea was the top try scorer for New Zealand in RWC 2015 with eight tries over the way of five games. His most outstanding performance came in a quarterfinal game against France when he counted a hat-trick of tries in just 17 minutes. His attempts helped propel New Zealand to final triumph that year. As well as receiving Savea his private accolades, such as being named global rugby player of The Year in 2016.

2011 RWC: Chris Ashton & Vincent Clerc

In 2011, England and France both had two performers tied for top try scorer with four each. For England, it was Chris Ashton, while France had Vincent Clerc. Ashton counted all his tries in the Rugby World Cup pool stages in games against Scotland, Georgia, Argentina and Romania. However, it was Clerc who would have the last giggle.

He would notch the try that bumped England out of the contest in the quarter-finals before France went on to defeat Wales and set up a gorgeous Rugby World Cup Final against hosts New Zealand. In the end, it was the All Blacks who won the tightest final in World Cup history, defeating the France rugby national union team by 8-7. For more about knowing Rugby World Cup Tickets.

2007 RWC: Bryan Habana

Bryan Habana was a force to be counted on during South Africa’s 2007 RWC drive. He counted his eight tries against Namibia, Argentina, Tonga, England, Wales, and Fiji national teams. His supreme performance came against Argentina in the Semi-Finals when he scored two tries and helped his squad to a 37–13 win. South Africa finally went on to win the competition after beating England 15–6 in the final, however, they did ride their fluke at times.

And if it wasn’t for a debated decision from the TMO, who ruled out Mark Cueto’s second-half try, England may well have become the first-ever country to successfully retain the Web Ellis Trophy. While every Rugby World Cup produces its own set of outstanding moments and exceptional performances, these five players remain among some of its supreme stars.
