Football World Cup: Granit Xhaka brought up another personal milestone
He is only the 17th player to reach the finish line for the club and the sixth midfielder. Two hundred matches in the Premier League for this wonderful football club makes me satisfied, he said to Arsenal.com next to the match. It makes me satisfied with myself, my squad, and the staff I’ve had in the last seven years. It’s not usual to make 200 races for a club similar to this, I always about I need to give them somewhat back. I sense at home as well so confidently there’s more to come. Two hundred matches, you can’t complete that from today to tomorrow.

It requires a lot of tough work, a lot of correction, and a lot of people were involved around me for the last seven years and in the finish, it’s tough to work. It was the perfect way for Granit to have fun, our success over Forest was our biggest of the time and took us back to the top spot in the Premier League. This is what we want to realize, us players, the supporters, and the football club, he added. We justify being there in my belief, now we have to keep going, and keep trusting in each other that we can do something special.
We got back to winning ways in fine style with a five-star show against Nottingham Forest on Sunday. Gabriel Martinelli fired us ahead early on with a brilliant diving header, and we ran riot after the interval. Reiss Nelson an early additional for Bukayo Saka scored double within the space of three minutes, then laid the ball off for Thomas Partey to smash home the fourth. There was unmoving time for Martin Odegaard to get in on the act, crashing in goal number five and later picking up a pass from Gabriel Jesus inside the box Granit Xhaka. You can watch our bitesize highpoints above, with extended highlights and full match replays below.
In Focus: Xhaka's reimagining sees Arteta's Gunners shoot:
Granit Xhaka has left from zero to hero at Arsenal. Once a lightning rod for fan unhappiness and liability in midfield, the 30-year-old has been transformed into a star performer for Mikel Arteta's high-flying Gunners. It signifies an outstanding redemption for the Switzerland international, who appeared on the verge of exiting the Emirates Stadium before his current renaissance.
As Arsenal makes to take on Nottingham Forest this evening, we judge how Xhaka has turned things around in North London. A symbol of decline Xhaka first signed for Arsenal in the summer of 2016 but his arrival coincided with a decline in fortunes for the Gunners. the three-time Premier League victors have not over in the highest four since the Basel native joined, with Xhaka's own form mirroring that of his club.
He turned from the inspiring to the ridiculous across his first five campaigns, mixing exceptional presentations with a number of disastrous expressions. A correction was actually hard for the former Borussia Monchengladbach man, who has collected five red cards during his time in N7. Close to an exit, the low point of Xhaka's Arsenal profession came against Crystal Palace in October 2019, when he clashed with fans at the Emirates appearing to swear at the crowd after he was booed off the pitch.
The 106-cap international was exposed to captaincy following that incident, with his standing among Gunners' followers in tatters. He came close to leaving North London in the transference windows that tracked but Arteta convinced Xhaka to continue. It looks like a wise choice, after the midfield maestro's flying start to the season. The positional shift in many ways Xhaka has been a victim of Arsenal's team lacks. He has been used as a defensive midfielder for much of his period at the club, despite that role not necessarily games his talent set.
A lack of acceleration meant that he was often caught out of position, while his tackling skill is not of the required standard to play as a traditional No6. However, the arrivals of Thomas Partey, Oleksandr Zinchenko, and Albert Sambi Lokonga mean that he is today free to be deployed further forward. That positional change from Arteta is paying dividends, as Arsenal can now make larger use of Xhaka's sublime passing and notable finishing.

Football Word Cup hopes but football is Pickett’s true love, and he is anxious for the future to hear from the Cameroonian Football Federation (Fecafoot) to see if he can be present at the Football World Cup in Qatar. Fecafoot is very aware of our idea to go to Qatar. They have told us they are working on our travel, lodging, and other things. I am very confident about it.
Pickett is also hoping the supporter group he founded, the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon Supporters Club, will also be talented to make the trip to Qatar. There are 20 of us who will be taken maintenance of by the Cameroon Football Federation for the Football World Cup, Pickett said. We now started daily training about a month ago. We are sure of in place of Cameroonian fans massively in Qatar.
High expectations Pickett has high expectations for his squad in this year’s Football World Cup. Cameroon is in Group G and will start their campaign against Switzerland on November 24 before a conference with Serbia four days later and wrapping up the group phase against five-time champions Brazil on December 2.
Pickett gave a thumbs-up to the job that Samuel Eto’o, president of Fecafoot, is doing and predicted his squad will scope at minimum the knockout phase of the Football World Cup. I trust we’ll do well in success at minimum the round of 16 because Eto’o is doing everything likely to get the right players, he said.
