The book Countdown Qatar Football World Cup will be launched
on National Sports Day, which falls on February 8. The book will be inaugurated
with the support of the SC and is edited by Dr. Buthaina Hassan Al Ansari and
published by Hawkamah Centre.
The book also tells the World Cup history since its
inception in Uruguay in 1930 and the participation of Arab teams in the Football
World Cup finals. It also highlights the challenges that Qatar has faced since
winning the hosting rights, how it overcame those challenges and the
state-of-the-art infrastructure that has been built to ensure a successful
hosting of the tournament, including the stadiums.
Talking to The Peninsula during an event to declare the
launch at Msheireb Museums yesterday, Al Suwaidi supposed, “This book comes to
document history. It is significant to have this legacy through literature that
will continue beyond the tournament Football world cup 2022. This book comes at
a faultless time as its introduction will be on Sports Day. This day connects a
lot of dots around this book. The day itself is important with a lot of
interest from the country and causal to a great social development pillar out
of Qatar National Vision 2030. You link it to the biggest tournament Qatar
World Cup that the country will host later in November this year.”
The figures, statistics, and the pictures that will go into
this book might be found in some other places, but to have it in one place and
documented in one location, officially approved and supported by all the
participating entities, is something different. In addition to that, it’s part
of the legacy that remains after the tournament. For more know about FIFA World Cup Tickets

“At the Supreme Committee, the legacy is a huge part of the
mandate of this committee, and we’re at the point where the entire legacy plans
and will be implemented post the tournament,” he added.
