Almoez Ali was born in Sudan and moved to Qatar at a young age. Almoez Ali's mother has dual nationality and was born in Qatar. He started playing for Al-Mesaimeer at the age of 7, then moved to Aspire Academy to play soccer at Lekhwiya SC. He was also part of the youth set of Belgian clubs Eupen in 2015.

In July 2015, Ali joined the top club of the Austrian club, LASK Linz. His first and only goal of the first team league came on November 27, 2015, against Floristries AC. In January 2016, he left the club and joined Cultural Leonesa in Spain's third division, Segunda Division B. On April 3, 2016, he scored his first goal for Cultural Leonesa in a 1-0 win over Arandina, becoming the first Qatar football player to score in the Spanish league.

Ali re-joined his old youth team L Lekhwiya SC for the 2016-17 season. He scored his team's first goal on 27 September 2016 in a 5-4 victory over Muaither. He went on to make 25 appearances and scored eight goals, also provided eight assistants, and was named the U23 Player of the Season as his club won the Qatar Stars League. The following season, Almoez Ali was part of the newly renamed Al-Duhail, as his former team merged with El Jaish, and became part of the unbeaten QSL title campaign.

International Career

Almoez Ali appeared illegally in the national team in a friendly match against Bahrain in December 2013. The match was ignored by FIFA. In 2014, Almoez Ali was part of the Qatar U19 team that won the 2014 AFC U-19 Championship. In 2015, he was part of the Qatar U20 team for the 2015 FIFA U-20 World Cup. On August 8, 2016, Almoez Ali played his first role in the national team as the team that will enter the match that defeated Iraq 1-2. In addition, he was the top scorer in the 2018 AFC U-23 Championship with six goals and played a major role in Qatar's third tier.

In the semi-final against the United Arab Emirates, Ali scored his eighth goal of the tournament with a 4-0 victory, the equivalent of the Ali Daei mark established in 1996 as the number one goal for an AFC Asian Cup match. He broke that record in the next game after scoring the opening goal by kicking a bicycle in the final match of the 2019 AFC Asian Cup against Japan.
